Abstract
In my research on secondary school students’ reasoning with categorical data for my MSc and PhD, I worked with Year 13 and Year 9 Pacific participants respectively, which was a privilege. In this presentation I would like to share some of my findings when the students reasoned with categorical data; in particular student beliefs that were revealed based on their experience and everyday lives. In addition, I would also like to share my experiences of doing research with Pacific school students and some of the challenges.
